By all accounts, the Dekker Project Portfolio Management Forum 2007 proved to be our most successful Forum yet!
Held from May 20-24 at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn and Suites in sunny San
Diego, California, the Forum provided nearly 100 attendees with an entertaining
and education-filled week focused on the importance of business intelligence in
an organization's overall corporate strategy. This year's Forum attracted many
first-time attendees, as well a number of certified Dekker TRAKKER® Users and
Power Users from across the nation.
The highlight of this year's Forum was the surprise announcement of Dekker PMIS (Project Management Information System) Version 8.0 by Dekker, Ltd. President and CEO Simon Dekker. Mr. Dekker asserted that this version of the Dekker PMIS is the next generation in project portfolio management and analysis. With integrated scope, cost, schedule, resource, performance tracking and financial management components, Dekker PMIS 8.0 will enable organizations to manage, analyze, control and prioritize every detail of every project and program across their enterprise. Project data can even be shared and accessed remotely and securely via the Internet. Best of all, Dekker PMIS 8.0 will be fully compatible with Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.
The Dekker PMIS 8.0 announcement was the climax of a highly informative day of presentations during the Forum's general session. Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Hugh Shelton delivered the keynote address, which focused on values-based leadership. Other speakers at the general session included Cheryl-Ann Cohen, Executive Director of Information Technology for ManTech International Corporation; Pamela Metz, United Space Alliance Project Manager; filmmaker Vince Marcello; and Simon Dekker. All of the speakers praised the current version of the Dekker PMIS , and Mr. Marcello even went so far as to state that he wished he had access to the product while producing his last film.
Outside of the general session, the remaining days of the PPM Forum were filled with training workshops covering the use of Dekker, Ltd. products, as well as advanced project management techniques. Thanks to Dekker Ltd.'s status as a Project Management Institute (PMI) Registered Education Provider, workshop attendees were able to earn valuable Professional Development Units (PDUs).
Several professional networking events afforded attendees the opportunity to share project management ideas and techniques and to discuss how others are utilizing Dekker, Ltd. solutions in their business environment. Events included catered receptions and dinners at the nearby Silver Gate Yacht Club, as well as a poolside reception at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn and Suites where guests were able to have their picture taken with a live tiger, the symbol of Dekker, Ltd.'s project portfolio management analysis tool, iPursuit.
We plan to outdo ourselves again for next year's PPM Forum, which will be
held in May 2008. Details will be posted on this site as the date draws near.
