This course provides students with a thorough understanding of the concepts and theories of project control using an earned value management system (EVMS). Topics include: a complete overview of earned value terminology and definitions; practical usage and calculations at the control account level for project managers and analysts; and a basic overview of finance system integration. The course explains the key concept of variances and calculating techniques for using earned value for project/job monitoring and control by project managers, company executives and government program managers with EVMS reporting requirements. This course clearly defines the contemporary philosophies, developments and pitfalls in implementing and using a disciplined EVMS.
